How did living standards in the 1920s compare to that of other decades?
Thesis
The living standards of the 1920s were much better than any other decade up to then. This was especially evident in urban areas. Since this decade was such a step forward in urbanization, other decades had the opportunity to also move forward. Cities were for the first time built to sustain many people living in a close area. This was unlike any other decade because there were so many inventions that effected the living standards. Some things that greatly altered this were the skyscraper, because it enabled more people to live in the same amount of space and increased how many people could live in an area. Since so many more people could come to work in the inner city, there were less people also living in the city. This movement of previous urban population spreading out and living in the suburbs is called Urban Sprawl.
